Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya: I'll sign permanently today

Arsenal goalkeeper David Raya is eager to sign permanently.

Raya is on-loan at Arsenal from Brentford this season, with the deal carrying a purchase option.

He told the Athletic: "I would have done it yesterday if I could.

Raya's arrival has left former first-choice keeper Aaron Ramsdale, 25, on the bench.

He insisted, "It is very good. At the end of the day we are friends, which is what matters. We have a healthy relationship. There are no problems.

"We push each other in training. When he's a little down, I push him, and when I'm a little down, he does the same. We are three goalkeepers, four at the most, for many hours every week and you need that kind of relationship because otherwise the training will not work."

Raya also spoke about the relationship with manager Mikel Arteta.

"Arteta gives me confidence to be here, that he wanted two top players in every position. It was up to me to find the right way and fight to get playing time," he concluded.
