Arsenal get serious about Newcastle target Neves

Arsenal are jumping into the battle for Al-Hilal midfielder Ruben Neves.

The former Wolves captain will be allowed to leave Al-Hilal on-loan in January.

The midfielder is a target for Newcastle United, which see him as cover for Sandro Tonali after his season-ending betting ban.

However, Arsenal are also keen, where manager Mikel Arteta feels his squad is a midfielder short.

Newcastle are favourites for Neves given Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund own both clubs. But that will change if Premier League plans to bring in a law blocking such deals between 'networked' clubs comes into effect.
