Arsenal defender Gabriel furious after penalty denied against Newcastle

Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhaes was furious with the refereeing during Tuesday night's draw with Newcastle.

Eddie Howe's side became the first English team to stop the Premier League leaders from scoring, as well as the first to take points off the Gunners at the Emirates Stadium this season in a 0-0 stalemate.

Mikel Arteta, however, hit out at the “scandalous" decisions not to award the home side at least two penalties during a feisty encounter.

Both incidents came in the second-half, the first when Gabriel's shirt looked to have been pulled by Newcastle defender Dan Burn in the box.

The second occurred during the dying moments of the game when Granit Xhaka's cross appeared to hit Jacob Murphy on the arm.

Taking to Twitter after the game, Gabriel posted a clip of the Burn incident with an emoji suggesting he was shocked the decision was not given.
