Arsenal boss Wenger: Last season collapse my toughest ever

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger rates last season as the toughest of his career.

Arsenal were chasing four trophies, only to implode and end up empty-handed.

And Gunners boss Wenger said: "The last part was the toughest season in my career.

"Emotionally, it was very difficult because we were on a low and then you could see the last three or four weeks were very difficult."

Arsenal won just three of their last 15 games following their shock loss to Birmingham in the Carling Cup final.

They slumped to fourth in the Premier League and now face a Champions League play-off in August.

The strain on the Frenchman is visible.

And he said: "I knew at some stage that it was lost and I had so much hope for the team because through November and December, you could feel that the team had really taken off and could win everything.

"And it was so close."
