Arsenal boss Wenger: I'd never work with football director

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger has sympathy for Tony Pulis after his departure from Crystal Palace.

The Gunners meet Palace later today.

Asked if he himself could work with a director of football who might hold more sway on transfers than the manager, Wenger chirped: "No, no, no, no."

Sympathising with Pulis and his apparent failure to control transfer policy at Palace, Wenger added: "The guy responsible for the results should be responsible for buying the players.

"Transfers should be the manager's job. If not, we are just robots."
