Arsenal boss Wenger determined to win Hazard race

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is determined to see off all rivals for Belgian whizkid Eden Hazard.

The Mirror says Wenger is sending scouts to watch 18-year-old Hazard in virtually every that he plays for French club Lille.

Belgian international Hazard, who has already won six full caps, fits the Wenger mould perfectly as he is young, very skilful and is not yet an established star.

Hazard plays as an attacking midfielder and can also operate wide and it is understood Wenger is desperate to sign him as quickly as possible.

Lille are aware of Arsenal's interest and will be anxious not to lose their best young asset as Hazard is the reigning Young Player of the Year in the French League.

But Arsenal do have money to spend in the next two transfer windows and will be anxious to get their man even if Lille value him at over £6m already.
