Arsenal boss Arteta insists Mustafi injury won't change Mari stand

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta insists Shkodran Mustafi's injury won't change their approach to signing Pablo Mari.

A deal with Flamengo for Mari appears at deadlock after the Spanish defender returned to Rio yesterday following a Gunners medical.'

Mustafi was stretchered off midway through the second half of last night's FA Cup win over Bournemouth and Arteta was asked if the situation made the need for Mari all the more critical.

"No," was his response.

"We had a very clear intention of what we wanted to do in the market with the resources we have and if we can do it, fine. But his fitness [Mustafi's fitness] won't change anything."
