Arsenal and Bolton Wanderers are on red alert as the father of Miguel Veloso admits his son is likely to leave Sporting Lisbon in the summer.
"I will guarantee that he will continue here until at least the end of the season, and then we will see what is going to happen," Antonio Veloso said.
"We will speak with the club to resolve everything about his future so that he doesn't leave on bad terms."
Sporting are thought to have initially set a fee of £14million to prize the player away from the Portugal capital at the start of the window. Veloso's agent, Paulo Barbosa, claimed at the end of January that the club had turned down a bid of £10.8m from Wanderers and an undisclosed offer from Newcastle United.
After the window had closed, both Trotters boss Gary Megson and his assistant Chris Evans confirmed that Wanderers had made two club-record bids to try and land him before the February 2 deadline.
"We couldn't swing it this time - but we'll revisit them in the summer, I'm sure," the manager added last month.
