Arsenal have approached West Brom for goalkeeper Sam Johnstone.
The Mirror says Arsenal have made an enquiry to sign Johnstone this summer to rival Bernd Leno for the number one spot at the club.
The Gunners are in the market for a new shot-stopper to rival Leno at The Emirates following the exit of Mat Ryan, who spent the second half of last season on loan at the club but has now joined Real Sociedad from Brighton.
The club are now on the lookout for a new goalkeeper to provide first-team competition in a similar vein to Emiliano Martinez, who was sold to Aston Villa last summer.
Johnstone is now on their radar after the 28-year-old put in a string of impressive performances for the Baggies last season, although it was not enough to prevent the club's relegation from the Premier League.
