Arena urges LA Galaxy youngster Meyer to learn from mistakes

LA Galaxy boss Bruce Arena was ruthless after his MLS Cup-winning team prematurely exited the CONCACAF Champions League at the hands of Toronto FC during the week.

The Galaxy lost their quarter-final home leg 2-1 to the Canadians to go out 4-3 on aggregate with both goals coming from young defender Tommy Meyer's direct opponent.

Jamaican forward Ryan Johnson headed home the opener from Nick Soolsma's cross before turning provider and giving Soolsma the chance to net the winner with just over 20 minutes remaining.

Despite the fact that Meyer has played just three matches for the Galaxy, Arena did not mince his words when urging the 21-year old to improve his game after being convincingly beaten on the night.

"He got caught on a couple of plays," Arena said.

"Inexperienced player. He's got to do a little better. He's got to learn from it."
