Newcastle United midfielder Vurnon Anita has defended the quality of the current squad.
He insists that the gap between Newcastle and the top six is not a chasm despite Everton's 3-0 win on Tuesday.
"I wouldn't say they are moving away from us," said the pint-sized midfielder, who missed the Toon's best chance.
"I don't think we did an awful lot wrong. They took their chances and we didn't which was the big difference.
"That was the story of the game and I was a part of that as well."
