Angel double at DC grabs point for Chivas

Juan Pablo Angel helped save Chivas USA from five successive MLS defeats when he netted a second-half double to force a 2-2 draw at DC United on Wednesday night.

DC star Dwayne De Rosario put his side ahead in the 39th minute when he headed home Andy Najar's free-kick from the right before Ethan White doubled the advantage two minutes into the second half with his first MLS goal.

Ten minutes later, Angel sent home a powerful header from the top of the six-yard box from Nick LaBrocca's chipped cross and with 20 minutes left, the veteran Colombian grabbed the leveler when he had time to settle after his initial attempt from Ante Jazic's to calmly slot home past Bill Hamid.

But the drama was not yet over when Angel pushed De Rosario in the box in stoppage time, forcing referee Chris Penso to point to the spot.

De Rosario stepped up to the plate but Chivas keeper Dan Kennedy came up with a clutch save to give the Goats a 2-2 draw, keeping his side 7th on the Western Conference table whilst DC missed a golden opportunity to go fifth in the East.
