Andre Gomes earns praise after Everton U21 outing

Everton's forgotten midfielder Andre Gomes continued his recovery from injury this week.

The Portugal international has been blighted by problems since coming into the club.

However, he may be in first team contention in the coming weeks, as he played in a Everton U21s game on Monday.

He was involved in a 5-0 win over Southampton, with Everton U21s boss Paul Tait praising him post-game.

He told club media about Gomes: “Andre was excellent. His calmness on the ball was great and you could see he's a top-class player.

"He was down to play for 60 minutes and when he came off, I told him to go and get a shower but he wouldn't because he wanted to stay out with the lads and watch the rest of the game.

“He showed a great attitude and I thank him for that."
