Former Tottenham star Darren Anderton says they need to make three signings in January to rescue their season.
Anderton, who amassed nearly 300 league appearances for Spurs, believes his old club need to bring in at least one new striker, a centre back and a midfielder to turn around their fortunes.
"They need a striker. There is no doubt about that especially with Defoe going. They need four strikers," Anderton told the Daily Express.
"They need centre backs as they are very shaky and shallow in depth. They also need a midfielder.
"I like Christian Eriksen and we need someone like him."
He added: "I like Mauricio Pochettino but it hasn't quite taken off for him. The players haven't reacted as well as he would have liked."
