Former Manchester City and West Ham midfielder Samir Nasri has explained his move to Anderlecht.
Nasri admits the presence of former City teammate Vincent Kompany as player-manager was key.
"We had a good relationship with City," said the Frenchman. “He was of course there for a while when I arrived and it helped that we speak the same language.
"Vincent called me to present his plans for Anderlecht and to ask me to go to Anderlecht with him. I also had other options, but wanted to stay in Europe. That was also the best option for my family.
"The sporting project and the fact that I can collaborate with a friend thereby made the difference.
“I've always had a lot of respect for him and his position doesn't change that."
