A new player has joined the Premier League TV rights game.
Amazon Prime will now be one of the places where fans in the United Kingdom can watch Premier League games from 2019.
The channel has broken the stranglehold of Sky and BT on the rights for Premier League games in the country.
Amazon will now have access to 10 matches during a bank holiday and 10 matches during a midweek schedule. This deal is active for three years from 2019.
Those who have Amazon Prime in the UK will be able to watch the games as part of their Prime subscription - with no extra fees.
It is a small package all things considered. But it is still a huge step for Amazon in the PL TV rights game.
There is some speculation that it could mean the streaming giant will bid on Premier League rights in the USA and other countries down the road.
But for now, their reach is limited to the UK from 2019.
