Allardyce rues West Brom finishing as Davis steals late point for Aston Villa

West Bromwich Albion's slim hopes of avoiding relegation took a blow after Aston Villa scored a stoppage-time equaliser on Sunday.

Villa took an early lead at home when Anwar El Ghazi converted a penalty after Semi Ajayi brought down Ross Barkley.

But the Baggies got back into the game after 23 minutes when Matheus Pereira beat Emiliano Martinez to equalise.

An own goal from Tyrone Mings shortly after half-time gave Albion the lead.

However, they couldn't hold on as substitute Keinan Davis pounced in stoppage time after a defensive mix-up to tie the scores at 2-2.

"But for their goalkeeper and the woodwork we would have got the third which would have seen it off," said Baggies boss Sam Allardyce after the game.

"It was our mistake for the equaliser but I can't be too critical of the players. I'm really pleased with the response to the Leicester disappointment.

"The lads showed real spirit after a dodgy start. Apart from the last seconds it all worked extremely well."
