Allardyce open to extending Leeds stay

Leeds UnitedSam Allardyce's press conference gave an insight into his thinking about the club.

The veteran coach was hired with four games of the season remaining with a simple mission - keep the club in the Premier League.

Allardyce was unable to correct their slide, as Leeds lost 4-1 on the last day at home to Tottenham and were relegated.

Asked if he believed he could have succeeded, Big Sam stated to reporters: “Telling factors among the players. Injuries. No time for research on the injury history. Find out the size of the squad, strength in depth. Maybe some talented players, but not the right experience, so all those factors have to find out quickly to get the best out of them."

He then added on possibly staying at the club: “Good question and we've had players from the past with experience of this club. They have commented about how the players looked up for it in training. Think you have lifted the mood and got the players in the right frame of mind.

“Have not achieved one win which makes me really disappointed in myself."

On his future in management, he concluded: “If I do anything it will be here, but those discussions will happen across the next few days. Sit down for a couple of days and thrash it out for both sides to be comfortable. Last thing I want is walk in and not go the direction we agreed."
