Alessio Romagnoli will join AC Milan today as the club's second most expensive defensive signing.

The Roma defender is to undergo a Milan medical today ahead of signing terms.

Romagnoli will join Milan for a fee of €25 million plus bonuses.

Despite the huge outlay, the deal still falls short of the staggering €31 million Milan paid Lazio in 2002 for Alessandro Nesta.

Romagnoli, once he's through his medical tests, will pen a five-year deal worth €2 million-a-season.
