Aldridge urges Rodgers to switch Liverpool tactics for Chelsea Cup clash

Liverpool legend John Aldridge hopes manager Brendan Rodgers adjusts his tactics for the second-leg of their Capital One Cup semifinal at Chelsea.

Aldridge wrote in the Sunday World: "Liverpool have picked up some good wins against them at Stamford Bridge in the Premier League and the League Cup in recent years, but they go into this game as big underdogs.

"They head to London on the back of a run of five straight away wins in all competitions, but those successes have not come against sides of the calibre of Chelsea and that's why I hope Rodgers varies his approach.

"A victory against Chelsea would transform Liverpool's season and possibly send them on their way to trophy success, which seemed inconceivable a few months ago when the team was woefully lacking in confidence.

"The upturn of the last few weeks does not mean all of Liverpool's problems have been solved - far from it - but what it does do is give some hope that the final few months of the campaign could offer some hope of success after all."
