Alban Lafont has explained quitting Fiorentina for Nantes.
The French goalkeeper signed for Nantes on Saturday.
Lafont joins on a two-year loan, with the option to buy for a reported €7m and a counter-option for the Viola.
“To be honest, I was very happy in Florence and it's a beautiful city that will remain in my heart. I just felt that my journey here had come to an end," Lafont told Firenzeviola.it.
“I take full responsibility for this choice and I had decided long before the end of the season that I would leave. I explained to my entourage the desire to go to a different club and fortunately it was all concluded quickly.
“In truth, a return to France wasn't my first choice, as I wanted to experience other cultures, but at the end of the day I decided to go back to where I'd performed at my best."
