Ajax defender Toby Alderweireld says he won't leave for a mid-table Premier League club.

The Belgium international is a top target for Newcastle United and Liverpool, while he has also been linked with Jan Vertonghen's Tottenham.

"It's better if I stay with Ajax. Then, I can follow the career path of Vertonghen," said Alderweireld.
