Ajax want to bring Real Madrid midfielder Rafael van der Vaart back to Holland.

The Dutchman has complained about the lack of action he's seen since the arrival of coach Juande Ramos.

Ajax sports chief Rik van den Boog said: "Van Der Vaart is a great player and is part of our plans. If he cannot join us now, he could do so in 2013 when his contract with Madrid ends.

"He will be 31 years old and this is not an age that would turn us off. "
