Ajax chief Marc Overmars has told Donny van de Beek to stay at Manchester United and tough it out.

The midfielder left Ajax last summer and has been linked with a loan return for next term.

But Ajax director of football Overmars has told Van de Beek to fight for his place at United rather than seek a return to Amsterdam.

Overmars told NOS: "I think Donny should just fight, stay next year and try to claim a starting place.

"You shouldn't leave so quickly."
