Ajax ace Tadic: I rejected Barcelona; Chelsea good for Ziyech

Ajax midfielder Dusan Tadic has confirmed Barcelona made an attempt for him in January.

Before defeat to Europa League opponents Getafe last night, Tadic admitted Barca wanted to sign him last month.

Barca were targeting the Serb after Luis Suarez was forced to undergo knee surgery, which was to rule him out for four months.

Tadic told De Telegraaf: "I was not surprised that they wanted to sign me for six months because I believe in myself and I have had an excellent season.

"But I have said hundreds of times that Ajax is my club and that there were no reasons to leave, because I have everything what I want here and a contract until 2026."

Tadic also backed teammate Hakim Ziyech for success with Chelsea next season.

"I know from my own experience that the Premier League is a difficult competition. But I hope and he has success because he is a player with quality.

"In Chelsea I think he can fit in well, because it is a team that works to the attack. Ziyech stands out like this. I hope we can give him a good farewell with three titles."
