Ahmed Elmohamady was delighted with his goal for Sunderland in their draw against West Bromwich Albion on Saturday.
Elmohamady later revealed he'd taken his manager's advice to gamble on a run into the box when he saw the ball go out wide on the opposite wing.
"I felt very good after the goal but I just wanted us to go on and win the game," he told safc.com. "It was a great feeling when the ball crossed the line.
"The manager spoke to me before the game and told me to get in the box any time the ball went down the left side.
"Nicklas put in a great cross for me to score a very good goal. There was a lot of pace on the cross so all I had to do was direct it.
"I got across the defender and managed to put it in."
