Aguirre admits likely Leganes exit after relegation

Leganes coach Javier Aguirre admits he's likely to leave after a draw with Real Madrid confirmed their relegation.

The Mexican took charge at Butarque halfway through this season and almost guided Los Pepineros to a great escape in LaLiga Santander.

In the end, Leganes were relegated to LaLiga SmartBank after drawing against Real Madrid on the final day of the season.

"It feels like my farewell to Leganes," Aguirre said after the game.

"I wasn't able to achieve the objective.

"I'll sit down [with the club] and see if they want me to stay."

With Celta Vigo dropping points at Espanyol, Leganes needed just one more goal against the champions to stay up.

"We did everything," Aguirre said.

"It's a real shame for Leganes and their fans, who always supported us.

"Today, they were with us from the start.

"I'm feeling a lot of pain for the boys because they're destroyed.

"We deserved more."
