Aguero personality helped him overcome penalty misses - Man City boss Guardiola

Sergio Aguero recovered from a pair of penalty misses to score a hat-trick for Manchester City on Tuesday night.

The Argentine striker saw his 8th minute spot-kick saved by Steaua Bucharest goalkeeper Florin Nita before blazing over the bar 13 minutes later in the first leg of the Champions League play-off in Romania.

However, Aguero atoned for his earlier errors to score goals in the 41st, 78th and 89th minutes to help City to a 5-0 win which gives them an unassailable lead ahead of the return bout at the Etihad Stadium next Wednesday.

Of Aguero's performance, Guardiola said: "Penalties are penalties.

"He has the personality to hit it and it's important he was not down, he was focused on the game and after he scored three goals."

David Silva and Nolito were also on target for City who will now prepare for Saturday's Premier League trip to Stoke City.
