The agent of Barcelona defender Eric Abidal says he is recovering well after having a liver tumour removed.
The 31-year-old France international went under the knife last week and his representative David Venditelli told COM Radio last night he is "recovering well", is in "good spirits" and awaiting the results of a biopsy to "see if everything is fine".
Venditelli also confirmed Barca had offered Abidal a new contract but that the player would rather focus on his recuperation at the current time.
He said: "We would prefer to wait for the results on Eric's health before talking about a contract extension.
"It is clear that Eric is happy with how the club has responded.
"He is pleased Barca are keen to negotiate an extension. (Director of football) Raul Sanllehi and (sporting director) Andoni Zubizarreta have been exceptional."
