The agent of Ricardo Alvarez says he is now a free agent.

Sunderland and Inter Milan have been at loggerheads over Alvarez's registration.

“He's a free agent," Marcelo Simonian explained in an interview with Tuttomercatoweb.

“That's from Inter and Sunderland. Inter transferred him to Sunderland who didn't take up their right to buy him, so now we're free.

“There's nothing in Europe at the moment, so he'll probably play in Argentina."
