Tottenham made a major offer for Lazio striker Mauro Zarate over the summer, it has been revealed.
Zarate is again being linked with Spurs ahead of the January market.
Jose Alberti, an Argentine agent and close friend of Zarate's, revealed last night: "An interest in England now? Personally I know that Tottenham would be willing to still take the player.
"About a month ago I spoke with someone who has a lot influence in those parts, who assured me that Spurs were ready to offer around €25 million for Zarate.
"But (president Claudio) Lotito has always considered him unsellable."
