West Ham United have been linked with Fiorentina striker Adrian Mutu.
The former Chelsea flop is under contract to Fiorentina until 2012, but may have to consider a New Year move to ease his own financial concerns.
The 30-year-old must pay Chelsea £14.6million as a result of his sacking by the Premier League club in 2004 when he tested positive for cocaine.
His representative Giovanni Becali admits Mutu's monetary problems require a solution, despite his happiness at Fiorentina.
"I can't rule out the possibility of Mutu leaving in January," Becali told the Daily Mirror.
"Mutu just needs to recover and play. Then we will see in January if any offers come in.
"Mutu is happy at Fiorentina and has a long contract that will be respected.
"Mutu's main problem is the fine that in one way or another we have to resolve."
