The agent of Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele has played down interest from Italian giants Inter Milan and Juventus.

Jaime Ladjemi said: "I cannot speak about it because Makelele is under contract with Chelsea and we are discussing a contract extension with the club of [Roman] Abramovich.

"What I will say is that Claude is a great player and if there are Italian clubs that are interested it is normal. But at this moment there is nothing.

"He belongs to Chelsea and he will remain there for a year. That's all I can say."
