Molde attacker Jo Inge Berget is in the dark over interest from Newcastle United.

Speculation has surfaced that Norway international Berget, who joined his native club from Udinese in summer 2011, is on the Magpies' transfer wishlist for January.

The 22-year-old says he is in the dark over the interest, telling Romerikes Blad: "I don't know any more than what is written on the internet."

However his agent, Jim Solbakken, says he has had contact with Newcastle - though refused to reveal whether Berget had been discussed.

He said: "I have been in touch with Newcastle for many reasons, (including) regarding forwards. But I don't want to tell if we have discussed Jo Inge."
