The agent of Juventus captain Gigi Buffon has spoken of how close he has been of leaving the club.

The 38-year-old remains the most expensive goalkeeper in history, moving to the Bianconeri from Parma for a fee of 100 billion lire [€52m] in 2001.

“Zoff wanted to take him to Lazio when Gigi was at Parma," Silvano Martina revealed on Radio Incontro Olympia.

“He said he'd never seen such a strong goalkeeper, even better than him. Roma and Barcelona also approached him a lot before he went to Juventus."
