Adelaide United has announced a 23-man squad to compete in the FIFA Club World Cup that kicks off in December this year. The squad is made up mainly of the players that took the Reds through to the final of the Asian Champions League but with some important inclusions.

Midfielder Jonas Salley and defender Alemao come into the squad after being ineligible for the ACL along with youth team players Osama Malik and Michael Marrone and a third goalkeeper in Lucas Andreucci.

One player that will miss out is vice-captain Lucas Pantelis who is recovering from a knee injury.

Adelaide plays their first match against New Zealand club Waitakere United on December 11 and will have to win to go through to the next round where they are likely to meet AFC rivals Gamba Osaka.
