Adebayor: Man City can be one of the best in the world

Emmanuel Adebayor believes Manchester City can be one of the best clubs in the world.

The Togo international understands City have hit a trough with some indifferent performances of late but insists that the squad is still coming together and that eventually they will become a force.

"There is no panic at the club - this is a long-term project," Adebayor insisted.

"We have a chance to nurture this team and make it one of the best in the world. That's why we bought players like Carlos Tevez, Gareth Barry, Kolo Toure and myself.

"We've combined with the quality players already here and we feel we can make this club successful."

The ex-Arsenal star said a top-four finish was well within reach, especially with some key injured players returning in the near future.

"Certainly a top four spot is still the aim this season - why not?" he added.

"We've signed Barry, a world-class midfielder, Stephen Ireland, one of the best players around, Craig Bellamy, who's on fire at the moment, Tevez and myself.

"Robinho's coming back from injury and Benjani's getting fit again.

"I think if these players are fit, then why can't we break into the Premier League's top four?

"At the moment, you can see that the Big Four are struggling a little bit. Liverpool and Manchester United in particular are finding things tough - so this year, everything is open."
