Emmanuel Adebayor was thrilled to gain his first Premier League start of the season on Sunday.
The Togolese striker netted a brace as Spurs came from behind to beat Southampton 3-2 at St Mary's Stadium and spoke of his delight at helping his supportive teammates secure a vital victory in their first league game under interim boss Tim Sherwood.
"I want to thank all my team-mates, they have been there for me, they tell me to keep working hard and my chance will come," he told Sky Sports.
"To be here today I am very pleased, not just the goals but for the team and I am very happy for the new manager, the fans. They have been supporting me."
