Adam set to sign long-term Rangers deal

Charlie Adam is set to sign a new five-year contract with Rangers.

The Herald says initial discussions are understood to have taken place between the Ibrox club and the midfielder's representatives to reward his contribution last season.

Negotiations have yet to be concluded, but manager Walter Smith is thought to be keen to have Adam's future securely tied to Rangers after the player firmly established his credentials. Adam scored 14 goals for the Ibrox club during the previous campaign and made his full Scotland debut in the friendly against Austria at the end of last month.
