Charlie Adam says Liverpool can take plenty out of their 1-1 draw with Manchester United.
The Reds had to settle for a point after Javier Hernandez's late header at Anfield but the midfielder insists Kenny Dalglish's men deserved more for their display against the champions.
"The way we competed gives us a lot of heart," Adam told the Liverpool Echo.
"You have to compete in any game and win the battle first and then try and play. I thought we did that on Saturday and were unfortunate not to get the three points.
"We were disappointed with the draw. I think we played well and created a lot of chances.
"When you play the champions and are disappointed with drawing 1-1 I think that shows we are doing well. I think we are improving as a team.
"The performance showed we are gelling as a team. As a group of players we feel each game we are getting better. When you have so many new faces it is difficult but we feel we are getting there.
"The way we played makes it even more exciting for the future."
