AC Milan have been stunned by Olivier Giroud's decision to commit to a new Chelsea deal.
Giroud has penned a new 12 month contract.
Gazzetta dello Sport says the Serie A giants had offered him a €4m-a-year deal for two seasons.
Milan remain interested in the French striker, but only if he can join the Stadio San Siro as a free agent.
Giroud's agents have claimed Chelsea promised the 2018 World Cup winner he would have been free to leave had he received an offer from abroad.
