AC Milan have sold Klaas-Jan Huntelaar to Schalke.

Huntelaar's Milan misery has come to an end as Bundesliga side Schalke have signed him for around €13m.

The Holland international striker looked on his way out of San Siro for much of the transfer window after failing to convince in his first season in Italy.

The 27-year-old released a statement on his website today in which he revealed that it wasn't his intention to cut short his career with Milan so early.

"It's true I never wanted to leave Milan, but that changed when Zlatan Ibrahimovic arrived from Barcelona," he concluded.
