AC Milan midfielder Nigel de Jong wants a return to Manchester.

The former Manchester City midfielder comes off contract in June and is being linked with rivals Manchester United.

Juventus are also in contact, but Gazzetta dello Sport says De Jong is ready to join United on a Bosman this summer.

The presence of Louis van Gaal is the deciding factor, with De Jong having established a good relationship with the United manager during their time with the Dutch national team.

Milan are resigned to losing De Jong, particularly with the chance of returning to the Champions League now gone for another year.
