AC Milan midfielder Bakayoko: Chelsea chiefs didn't give me chance

AC Milan midfielder Tiemoue Bakayoko has taken aim at parent club Chelsea.

Bakayoko, 24, initially struggled in Italy but has since impressed for the Rossoneri, who are now keen to make his deal at San Siro permanent.

The Frenchman is keen to stay in Italy when his deal expires, but Chelsea chiefs are ready to play hardball over a fee, wanting £35million.

He told France Football: "I think it came from above. The club weren't doing well, wanted change, and I was a part of it.

"(Maurizio) Sarri arrived, and he was told that's how things were. He also brought in his midfielder, Jorginho.

"A second season at Chelsea could have allowed me to settle, but I felt the need to leave."

Bakayoko insists he is thankful to Milan for their faith, particularly sporting director Leonardo

“It was an important career choice because I'm already on my fourth club," he added. "That's a lot for a 24-year-old. Leonardo is the one who contacted me.

"If I had to leave, it was for Milan because that club made me dream when I was a kid. I really am grateful for the chance they have given me."
