AC Milan legend Maldini: Barcelona defender Pique best in world

AC Milan legend Paolo Maldini rates Barcelona defender Gerard Pique as the best in the world.

Interviewed in L'Equipe, the 41-year-old was particularly expansive about his views on football a year after his retirement from the professional game.

“When I see Messi play, in my opinion, he should win the Ballon d'Or every year. He is an unbelievable player.

“I like Pique a lot. He has class. He knows how to defend and also how to score. He is perfect in a duo with Carles Puyol.

“Alessandro Nesta remains one of the strongest defenders. Milan's Thiago Silva can also become a super champion.”

and pique destroyed ronaldo in the world cup, when it really mattered

ronaldo destroyed pique when spain lost to portugal

this is clearly someone who knows nothing about football. what happened when pique and barcelona met united in the champions league final a couple of years back? rio ferdinand allowed a midget like messi to head the ball home. last time i checked pique is a world cup winner. something no english player will ever achieve ever. forget those old hags in 1966. how many of the readers on here even care about that world cup
