AC Milan hit back at press attack over 'dignity'

AC Milan have hit back at the press over claims with defeat to Hellas Verona that they've lost their "dignity".

La Gazzetta dello Sport went with Milan's 3-0 defeat to Verona on their Monday front page, but the suggestion of “zero dignity" used for its headline did not go down well with the Rossoneri.

“The defeat to Verona was, without doubt, serious, mortifying and unacceptable," read a Press review on the club's official website.

“However, with respect to the recognised and proven moral integrity of a Coach, coaching staff and an entire team, any form of confusion regarding the concept of dignity is equally unacceptable.

“Milan have apologised for their performance at Verona, which lends itself to criticism, but pointing the finger at dignity leaves a very bitter aftertaste of fury, which transcends technical assessments and the act of criticism.

“Judgments cannot and mustn't lose balance, even in the face of a bad result. The ball remains the ball and our dignity remains something else."
