AC Milan boss Allegri defends Mexes after Juventus dismissal

AC Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri has defended Philippe Mexes after his dismissal against Juventus.

Mexes was sent off for two yellow cards, but should've seen red earlier for punching Giorgio Chiellini on the back of the head during a corner. He is likely to be subject to video action.

Allegri insisted: "It wasn't a punch, it was a tussle in the box and he hit him on the back. If you want to call it a punch, then call it that, but there are a thousand different fouls like that in the box. He didn't even catch his face. It was absolutely not a punch."
