Abou Diaby could still win a new deal with Arsenal.
Diaby could be handed a new deal at the Emirates despite his woeful injury record, according to boss Arsene Wenger.
He made a surprise return to action during a reserve match this week and Arsene Wenger has admitted that, should he prove his fitness, he could be given a fresh contract.
His appearance against Southampton last September was after his 40th injury in eight years at the club.
Wenger said at the time: "He's a giant mentally. To do what he has done, with the severe injuries he had, he comes back every time, is dedicated and he deserves a lot of respect.
"I'm a huge believer in his quality and I'm sad as well that he couldn't show it more. If there is some justice, the future will be much better for him."
