DC United coach Wayne Rooney feels Mason Greenwood should leave Manchester United.
United management have left the striker in limbo as they draw out an internal investigation over whether to re-integrate him into the squad after assault charges were dropped earlier this year.
United legend Rooney told the Athletic: "Right now Mason is stuck. It's really not a good position to be in and I'm sure he just wants to play football. I feel sorry for him.
"The best thing he can do right now is to find a new club where he can continue his development. He will have to get back into playing after such a long time.
"After the long investigation, it is probably best that he finds a new place where he can get his career on track. It is really a difficult situation for both him and the club.
"It is important that the right decision is made, and it really looks like they are having difficulty finding a solution."
