Barcelona could've signed Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois last summer, it has been revealed. Courtois, who has spent the past three seasons on-loan with Atletico Madrid, is expected to return to Chelsea for preseason.
Sport says 12 months ago, a Barca director held extensive talks with Courtois' camp and had a deal in place for the Belgian. However, at the last minute, the transfer was vetoed by Barca sports director Andoni Zubizarreta.
Zubi, it's understood, rates Marc-Andre ter Stegen as the better prospect and welcomed the former Borussia Monchengladbach keeper to Barca last week.
